License change

Post by UT2015 »

Hi,

we are currently using a Veeam Backup Essentials Enterprise license, which includes Veeam Backup & Replication Enterprise for 6 CPU sockets.

Because we want to manage 6 additional hosts with our backup program, we have to give up the Backup Essentials license and have to switch to a "normal" license for 18 CPU sockets.

Because of the huge extra charge we have to switch from Backup & Replication Enterprise to Backup & Replication Standard (or to a completely different product, we are currently evaluating that).

Is it possible to do that license switch within the running Veeam without losing any information about the backups or do we have to do a reinstall?

Best regards,

Replacing license on backup server should not affect existing backups anyhow. Thanks.

What happens if e.g. GFS-media pool was used, which is not supported in Standard license?

You won't be able to backup to such pool any longer, however, you won't loose track of backups already archived to tapes. Thanks.
