Limit snapshot creation time

Post by spiritie »

Hi Veeam

Currently having an VM that cannot create a snapshot because vCenter is busy exporting it as an OVF template.

Veeam has started an "Create virtual machine snapshot" task in the vCenter (at 0%), and the snapshot has not
been created and will not be able to continue before the OVF export is completed.

Currently Veeam has been waiting for this snapshot to be created for over 9 hours

Is there a way to define a max snapshot creation time in Veeam, because obviously this task will not complete within any reasonable timeframe.

I'd like to set up that anything over X time for snapshot creation should be failed/canceled and (maybe trie again?)

I know there is the "Backup Window termination" function, but I'm not interested in using that feature for this purpose because this backup job is very dynamic.

No, currently there is no such thing as maximum snapshot creation time. As alternative, you might setup an alarm in Veeam ONE that will notify you, if a backup job exceeds certain time threshold. Thanks.
