Hi all,
any suggestions how to backup following disks/vm's?
- 3 vm's (in vSphere)
- Server A (clustered Linux Server - groupwise mailserver)
- Server B (clustered Linux Server - groupwise mailserver)
- Server C (offline VM holding shared disks(multi writer) used by Server A and Server B(mounted in media folder))
- Server A and B are backed up through local installed veeam agent (mounted multi writer disks seems not to be part of backup)
Our current solution is to backup the monted folder via file level backup using Server A.
But this throws some errors/warnings for several files. (i guess these files are currently locked somehow)
And there is also no application awarenes. (is there AA for groupwise in Veeam at all?
We are not responible for the cluster config.
I wonder if Server C must be offline or if it is possible to install a veeam agent there to backup entire disks. (maybe application aware also)

Re: Linux Cluster with shared disks
Hi,
Before I can address all of your questions I need to ask you something:
Is the fileshare mounted on all nodes at the same time (active-active cluster), or it is mounted only on one node at any given moment (active-passive)?
Thanks!

What does it mean 'offline'? As in 'demoted from the cluster'? Or something else?Server C (offline VM holding shared disks(multi writer) used by Server A and Server B(mounted in media folder))

Re: Linux Cluster with shared disks
Sry for the late response.
I'm not sure i can answere all questions correctly.
The server/cluster was installed and configured by our customer temself.
Not sure how the nodes(OS) are handling this.

Offline means the vm is and can not be startet in lack of an OS disk. (it's only holding the shared disks)
As for vSphere, the disks are provided to both nodes at the same time.
Not sure how the nodes(OS) are handling this.
