Linux Guest File Restore: Wrong MTIME, ownership root for di

Post by loelly » Apr 17, 2014 9:30 am

Hello there,

when restoring files via Guest File Restore (Other OS) wizard, the files and directories are not restored with MTIME (most importantly) set to the date and time of the original files or directories in the backup repository. Instead they get created with the current local system time.

Secondly, it looks like every directory is created with root as owner.

Has anybody found a way to work-around this limitation? To the guys at Veeam: (when) do you plan to fix this issue?

Best regards,

loelly.

Hi, Maik, what product version you're currently using? Thanks.

Latest version, 7.0.0.839 (Patch 3a). This behavior has stayed the same since 5.x I think.

You're right, indeed.

Currently, we don't preserve folder permissions, group and owner ID during Linux FLR restore, even if the corresponding button ("Preserve permissions") is checked. We only preserve these settings for files. According to the plan, this should be fixed in the next patch.

As to problem with restoration of original modification timestamp, this issue is likely to be fixed in the next release.

Thanks.
