Hello,
Client have Veeam B+R Version 8 with vsphere 6.5
vSphere Host has only 100 GB free and I need 40 GB to add to a Virtual Mashine
Do you think there could haben a collision /escalation? (when backup is starting?)
I know that official recommendation is 20-25% free space.
New Server is arriving within the next month.
thx, best regards

Re: Minimum free Space on vsphere Host for B+R Backup?
if you don't have enough space on Datastore, Veeam Backups will not happen.
recommended free space is 20% on host
recommended free space is 20% on host

Re: Minimum free Space on vsphere Host for B+R Backup?
There needs to free space large enough to hold a VMDK(s) snapshot during a backup and maintain any growth of the snapshot during a backup cycle.
If a snapshot fills up a datastore, all VMs running on that datastore will stop functioning properly.
I have seen customers not keep a lot of free space on a datastore and Veeam still backups VMDKs on that datastore with now issue because none of the VMs were large, or highly transactional. If you VMs are highly transactional I recommend leaving that 20% free space on them.
