move restore point from a job toanother

Post by esysteme_act »

Hello,

Our version of VBR is 9.5u4a.

We have configured our backup with tag functionnality.
one vmawre tag permits to select a certain number of VM.

The strategy is 7 restore points for the backup job and 60 points in the backup copy .

My problem is the following:
For application reason, i have to keep 100 points of restore for one vm amongs the vms backup with this stratégy.

So ,
I remove the tag for this VM and create a stratégie for that VM . (7 point for the backup and 100 for backup copy)

Is there a way to map the restore points of that VM from the previous strategy ??

I ve seem a way to map for a job but not for a serie of point of restore witch are backup inside a job.
I'm not sure to be very clear :)

The fact is that with the method used , i have to wait 100 days bebore to respect the need instead of 40 (100 -60) .

Thanks for any help

Hello,
It looks like the best strategy is too keep the tagged VM with others in main backup job and create new backup copy job for the tagged VM.
Do you have per-VM option enabled on the repository where backup copy job is targeted?

Hello,

Yes We have a per VM option enable.
The fact is that I don't wish to increase the number of restore point of 20 VM when I need to increase only for one.
I gonna look of the startegy you give

Thanks

What I would do is to exclude the VM from the existing backup copy job and create another copy job with 100 points retention.
Then rescan the repository to to populate the target backup repository. Click "Sync Now" to start a new backup copy interval.
Read this article to get more information about the seeding process.
