I have a 500gb vm which I can't move due to the version of VMFS, block size, and no room being present for a snapshot.
So, I am using File copy instead to move this vm between a 4.1 host to another 4.1 host
What I am seeing is that it reads "briefly" from the source at 8MB/sec or so (100 megabit switch limit), and then spends the next 5 seconds writing to the destination at 1MB/sec. Do you know why the write portion of this operation is taking so long? Testing with other tools (IE: vmware datastore browser) results in much quicker writes.
Additionally, for the ones that I would "migrate" on, they went real quick (~6-8MB/sec constant).
Source and dest are vmware esxi 4.1
Tool is veeam B&R 6.1 free.

Re: network-based file copy operation is slow.
Could you please clarify if you've tried uploading files from the backup server or you have performed your tests from another location? Also have you been able to check Veeam copy job log files for more details?
