Hello,
Can I use the Open VM Tools to pre-freeze/post-thaw mysql on a Linux system? Does it perform as well as the commercial version?
The only Veeam documentation about it is in the document linked at http://www.veeam.com/blog/backing-up-my ... ux-vm.html, which makes use of the commercial tools. My environment will include many linux servers, and I'd prefer to use apt-get to easily automate installation of the tools.
Thanks!

Re: Open VM Tools freeze/thaw
Hi Hunter,
Provided that you're able to use vSphere Client to create a snapshot which triggers pre-freeze/post-thaw scripts prior/post VM quiescence operation, then your Veeam backup/replication job will also be able to do this for the backed up Linux VM.
BTW - could you please tell me why you would like to use Open VM Tools and not VMware tools for your VMs?
Thanks!

Re: Open VM Tools freeze/thaw
VMware tools requires compiling for the system, and is interactive. With Open VM Tools, I can just include the open-vm-tools package in my preseed and I'm good to go.

[MERGED] : Support of open-vm-tools ?
Hi,
I am considering the use of open-vm-tools instead of the standard VMware Tools.
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/search ... Id=2073803
Does Veeam B&R support the open-vm-tools?
Is there is a difference in function from Veeam's point of view?
Thank you,
Yuya
