Hi
First time with Ora RMAN plugin and Veeam.
We have configured the RMAN plugin and backups are running, we have two Ora instances on the server and Veeam are writing backups for both instances in same backup job.
Is there a way to have the plugin to create two differnet jobs using instance name as separator?
Otehrwise it will be messy with databases and archivelogs being sent in same jobs and we want to have separate Bakcup copy jobs at later stage.

Re: Oracle RMAN plugin and multiple Oracle instances
Hi Mats,
The backup job is linked with the server on which the plug-in is deployed and there is no way to link a job with Oracle instance.
I agree that it would be nice to have an option to create backup copy for individual databases, it's a good idea. On the other hand, the "restore-from-copy" option is fully automated and provides you with a possibility to restore from backup of any instance after job failover. Basically, it won't be "messy", the only downside is that you cannot have different retention and RPO settings for backup copies of different instances.
Thanks!

Re: Oracle RMAN plugin and multiple Oracle instances
Yes I'm aware of the ability to use backup copy to restore from but there will be problem when the instances are for two different companies from different countries. They have very different demands on retention so this wil lcause a big problem for us. It would be nice if Veeam could change the plug-in to be able to differ backups and jobs on instances. This is basicall y due to the fact that we need to run all Oracle databases on physical servers due to Oracle license rules for Hypervisors.

Re: Oracle RMAN plugin and multiple Oracle instances
Hi Mats,
The request is noted but I cannot comment on ETA as it depends on priorities of other enhancements that we're going to deliver in future releases.
Thanks!

Hello,
with the central management of RMAN from the Backup & Replication (VBR) side, that challenge will be solved in V12.
Best regards,
Hannes
