PostGre SQL vs SQL Express benefits

What are the advantages of switching from SQL Express to PostGRE SQL?
Because, as far as I know, neither database has a encircling fee and can be set and forget.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

The SQL Express have a 10G size limit which can be reached pretty fast when performing backup of files for example or a huge number of backup job.

In addition to the 10GB size limit Joerg shared, according to Veeam, PostgreSQL can also provide enhanced performance over SQLExpress, though if you have a nomimal sized backup environment, you probably wouldn't notice. Also, though you can still use SQLExpress if you want, it is no longer packaged with the Veeam installer. You have to install it separately.
