Hello,
i use an 6TB USB Disk that was direct attach over USB3 to my BackUp Server. I was little frustrated why Rotated Hard Drive Option makes my Save slower. I have make two scenarios:
BackUp Repository with "Use per-VM backup files" enabled
- Read Speed 140MB/s
- Transfer Speed 115MB/s
BackUp Repository with "Rotated Hard Drive" enabled
- Read Speed 120MB/s
- Transfer Speed 70MB/s
For me im not understand why i can not use "per-VM backup files" with Rotated Hard Drives.
best regards, Juerg

Re: Problem with External USB Drive
Hi Juerg, per-VM files are one of the limitations of the repository backed up by rotated drives:
And actually you even cannot enable per-VM backup chains on a rotated drives repository. You cannot store per-VM backup files on backup repositories with rotated drives.

Re: Problem with External USB Drive
Yes, that im know. But im wonder why my BackUp with Rotated Disk needs nearly 2x times longer as with per VM BackUp.

Re: Problem with External USB Drive
It could be explained by the increased number of parallel streams after enabling per-VM chains.
