Hi
Does Veeam periodically scan the proxy server for availability ?
If yes, how often is it running at intervals ?
Running the job immediately after shutting down the proxy in the test environment resulted in an RPC error.
We think that it will take some time for Veeam to automatically recognize the shutdown proxy as Unavailable.
Let me know.
Regards
Toshi

Re: Proxy Rescan Interval
Hi Toshi, job should detect proxy unavailability and failover to using another existing one (unless you explicitly set the job to use this very proxy server). Isn't this the case in your environment? What behavior would you expect?

Re: Proxy Rescan Interval
Hi foggy
Thanks for reply.
Of course, if backup server detected proxy unavailability, we confirmed the job behavior of failover to using another existing one.
We expected that this failover behavior would also occur immediately after shutting down the proxy.
But if we run the job immediately after shutting down the proxy in our environment, the backup server have not detect this proxy unavailability yet and job failed with the following RPC error;
-----------------
Failed to connect to Veeam Data Mover Service on host 'Proxy', port '6162'
Error: The RPC Server is Unavailable RPC function call failed. Function name: [InvokerTestConnection]. Target machine: [Proxy IP address].
-----------------
For example, if any fault occurs in the proxy server, if it takes time to automatically detect the proxy status from the backup server, we think job fails with above error without failover to aother proxy.
So we want to know how long the backup server will check the status of the proxy automatically.
According to the following document, Veeam Backup & Replication automatically performs a rescan operation every 4 hours.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=95
So does the backup server take up to 4 hours to identify the proxy as unavailability ?

Toshi

Re: Proxy Rescan Interval
The only guess is that the job had been able to check proxy availability before it was actually shut down (the Data Mover service had still been active and responded). If the proxy had been offline, the job would have selected another one.
This rescan operation retrieves information about disks and volumes connected to managed servers, not components availability.Tos wrote:According to the following document, Veeam Backup & Replication automatically performs a rescan operation every 4 hours.
