proxy vs Vmware proxy

Post by dco.serwis »

Hi,
What is the difference between "backup proxy" and "Vmware backup proxy"?
Because I can't find information about the differences.

Hi,

Could you please share a context? Maybe the link to the documentation where you try to figure out what's the difference.

Thanks!

Backup infrastructure > backup proxies :
"add backup proxy" vs "add Vmware backup proxy" and "add Vmware CDP proxy"

Ok, got it :)

- Backup proxy: used for NAS, file share and off-host agent backups, you can find the details here.
- VMware proxy: used for VMWare backup, you can find the details here.
- VMware CDP proxy: server which acts like VMware CDP proxy, you can find the details here.

In this menu the Hyper-V off-host backup proxy can also be added.

You can also find the short description of each point when you open a wizard for it, for example -

So if you want a proxy to be able to serve both the vmware proxy role and the 'agent' proxy role do you make 2 separate entries? 1 for vmware and 1 for agent?

Yes (they have different wizards due to different settings).
