Question about CDP Proxy

Post by Luca82 »

Hi everyone, I've two questions about CDP Proxyes.
1- can I use the same machine for both standard proxy (for replica and backup jobs) and CDP proxy (for CDP) or it is needed to separate the two roles?
2- can the same CDP proxy acting as both source and target (if I have replica in both directions between sites)?

thak you everyone as always

Hi Lo

1) Certainly, a single machine can accommodate various proxies, but it is crucial to ensure that each component receives the necessary resources. Mixing different Veeam roles on CDP proxies may result in performance issues, potentially causing delays in completing CDP Replication within the expected time frame. Such delays can impact your anticipated Recovery Time Objective (RTO). If you opt for a single server, I recommend closely monitoring the system. Be prepared to deploy a dedicated server if needed.

2) Yes, technically this possible. But dedicated servers may be required if you don't see the expected replication performance.

Best,
