Question about ESXi/VBR versions to use

Post by EricF »

Hello,
I have to migrate VM from an ESXi 6.0.0 Update 1 to a new server. The backups are made with a licenced 9.0 version without support contract. No new Veeam B&R licence has been provided, because it's a transitional server (I plan to use a community licence during transition). One VM have a 1+ TB Virtual Hard drive. Is the community edition able to backup a such VM ? If not, what ESXi version do I have to install to be compatible with VBR 9.0 ?

Hi Eric, ESXi 6.0 is fully supported by Veeam B&R v9 regardless of the edition and VM disk size doesn't matter as well.

I know, beacause it's the used versions. But Esxi 6.0 will not be compatible with the actuals processors. The question is : what is the latest ESXI version supported by VBR 9 ?
For the first question, is the community version able to backup à 1TB VM ?

Yes, disk size doesn't matter. ESXi 6.0 is the latest version supported by v9.
