Question about Post-thaw script

Post by sarapinho »

Hello Team!

I have a linux VM that, during the backup, runs a script to clean some folders, the script defined without application recognition "Post-thaw script". I noticed in the logs that during the backup process, veeam takes the snapshot and soon afterwards already runs the script, after that process. If the job fails, after the Snapshot is generated, will the data be erased and will it not be backed up?

Hi Amauri, depends on the moment the job fails - if the script has already been triggered after a successful VM snapshot and has deleted the data and THEN the job fails for some reason, VM backup will not be created and you end up with the VM with the data removed but without a backup of these data. I think you better consider using a post-job script for your purpose.

Hello Alexander,

And would a script with the extension * .sh be supported for running after backup?

Pre\Post-Job scripts are executed locally on VBR server so natively .exe, .bat, .cmd and .ps1 will work out of the box.
You can always wrap your .sh into .bat calling for suitable process, or a script that will trigger .sh on a remote linux server via SSH.
