Question on upgrade to v11a

Post by mrholm »

Hi
We're on v11 today and are planning to go to v11a and are simoly wondering a bit around the upgrade sequence.
I know we need to upgrade the EM and then all infrastructure roles in the environment but what about agents, do we need t upgrade them directly as well or can we leave them on v11?
If we could leave them on v11 then the upgrade would be much easier and without any downtime since all our agents are running on highly important prodcution servers.
If upgrading the agent does it rquire downtime or can it be upgraded without restart?

Hi

Veeam Agent V4.0 and above is supported with Veeam V11 and Veeam V11a.
You can leave them on Veeam Agent V5.0 (I assume, this is your current Agent version), if you want :)

Make sure, that you have disabled Auto Update in the protection Group.

Veeam Agents only need a reboot, if you have installed veeams cbt driver or if a .NET component must be deployed. .NET installation should not be necessary between Agent 5.0 and Agent 5.0.2.

Thanks a lot for quick reply and that's excellent news.
We will stay for now on 5.0 then and wait until a bit later to upgrade the agents.
