What is the difference between synthetic full and an active
Hello,
I have a backup job with a mode of incremental with the synthetic full checkbox set, and have the syntethic fulls set to be created on Sundays.
In the dialog below is the Active Full. I have it set to perform Active Full backups Weekly on Sundays.
What is the result of this going to be?
Will it perform both the synthetic and full on Sundays?
Will it perform only the full active on Sundays?
Does this have any benefit at all, or is this a configured in a non-optimal way.
Please explain.

Re: Question regarding synthetic fulls and scheduling
David, if both active and synthetic fulls are scheduled to be performed on the same day, only active full will be performed. If the job is triggered the second time a day, it performs a normal incremental run.

In addition, these animated graphics might shed some light on different retention policies and backup modes. Thanks.

[MERGED] : Scheduling
If I have a set of jobs and I set the schedule to 6pm on Week Days.
And from the Storage section - I enabled Synthetic Fulls to run on Saturdays.
Will the Synthetic Fulls run on Saturday, even though the schedule has been set to 6pm on Week days?
