Hi,

WAN accelerator was designed for backup copy jobs and replication jobs only.

If your VBR license allows then yes, use backup acceleration to copy backups offsite after you've performed backups locally.

If you don't have WAN acceleartor feature enabled, then try changing advanced storage option to "WAN target". Also, if you're using SMB/CIFS share as a repo then I recommend you to have a gateway server close to your share side.

Thank you.

That's the exact reason why wan acceleration was not designed for backups : the primary backups should be done locally to reduce to the minimum the time vm are under snapshots, and most of all for fast restore times.
Then backup copy jobs would move data offsite and allow for multiple copies of your data stored in different locations.

Also, 20 to in 8 hours means roughly 700 MB per second, you have 10gb connection between the two? If so, wan acceleration is useless for you, as it's designed for connections up to 100-150 mb. Over this limit is faster to use direct connection
