Quick Backup - No Full Backup Found

Post by redhorse »

Hello,

we are unable to perform a quick backup for our ESXi VMs:

"Unable to perform quick backup for VM-XY. Reason: No full backup found for this item."

The source job is an incremental job forever and there is one VBK and 13 incremental VIBs in the repository for the source job. What is going wrong here, did I miss something? If not, I will open a support case.

Hello,
there is one VBK and 13 incremental VIBs
if that's true, then it's a technical issue and support should investigate it. Please post the case number for reference.

Best regards,
Hannes

Hello,

Just two more ideas: did you migrate or re-register the VM in vCenter inventory after full backup was created and do you see the full backup on the file system only or it is also displayed in backup properties (Backups - Disk) ? Nevertheless, support case is still needed as Hannes has suggested.

Thanks!

I've opened a case: Case # 05411461

The full backup is displayed in the backup properties, but yes, we did some reconfigurations on our vSphere environment (new hardware, update to V7, ...).

Maybe it's worth checking if VM MoRef-ID has been changed since the last full backup of this VM but I believe our engineers can easily validate this hypothesis by analyzing debug logs.

Thanks!
