Quick migration of VM's with VMDK's on different datastores

Post by J@M »

Hi

I just tested a quick migration of a VM and it was successful however I didn't realise that whoever set it up has spread the VM's virtual disks across datastores so migrated VM is on new datastore, but also has files on it's previous datastore too

It's not so much an issue for this one, but going forwards doing more quick migrations how do I get over this and make sure all virtual disks from multiple datastores all go across?

Thanks in advance

Jason

got it - (I think ) - "pick datastore for selected virtual disks" - add VM then select each disk and re-point to new datastore

is that correct?

cheers

Jason, actually, even if VM has its disks on different datastores, all of them should be migrated to the target datastore during Quick Migration (without the need to specifically select disks/datastores). If you observe different behavior, I'd recommend contacting support.
