Quick Migration to Azure VMware solution
Hi Chaps, I know there are some NBD / NFC restrictions and permissions limitations with the Azure VMware Solution.
I wanted to know if quick Migration would work ? - its not mentioned as an issue in https://www.veeam.com/kb4012
Thanks in advance
Alex

Re: Quick Migration to Azure VMware solution
Thanks Hannes, I have one more question......
In my scenario I would like to restore into the AVS solution from a Hyper-V backup. It states in the KB that " restore functionality that requires conversion may need to be staged to on-premises VMware infrastructure first as NFC / NBD is not accessible on AVS."
Can I do a direct restore to AVS ?
Is there a way to get around the staging it on-premise ?
Thanks In advance
Alex

Re: Quick Migration to Azure VMware solution
Hello,
restore from Hyper-V to VMware works with Instant VM recovery via NFS. NFS is blocked in the cloud offerings of VMware... so the way would be on-prem instant recovery and then migrate to cloud.

Hannes

Re: Quick Migration to Azure VMware solution
Thank you again Hannes, Microsoft are now supporting Azure Netapp NFS mounts to the "AVS" - https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/updat ... ming-soon/ - so I wonder if NFS will work but its just not supported. I guess I will just have to give it a try.

Re: Quick Migration to Azure VMware solution
Just a quick note here, we updated our AVS support statement https://www.veeam.com/kb4012, and Azure NetApp Files with NFS is now supported. However Instant VM Recovery using an NFS mount from Veeam still is unsupported by AVS.
