Remove individual files from reverse incremental

Veeam Logoby c0utta » Tue Feb 07, 2017 12:42 pm

Hi guys,

I recently posted a topic about creating a yearly file archive here: https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/file-archive-strategy-t40384.html.

As per the subject, I found a large number of old Outlook .pst files that were backed up unnecessarily. When they were removed, the Veeam backup that night was large as I assumed Veeam kept the last copies of them.

They are definitely not required, so can I purge them from the backup chain?

Thanks,

c0utta

You cannot delete files from already created backup files. To get a new backup chain without blocks containing deleted files data, you need to reclaim the space inside guest OS (sdelete) and perform full backup.
