Removing VBR server and Proxies from domain

A while back in one of Gostevs weekly emails he mentioned to not have the VB&R servers on the local domain. Currently we have one CB&R server and 4 proxy servers. All are on the domain. If I wanted to remove them from the domain, is it just a simple matter of dis-joining them and making sure everything works? I do have the passwords configured already to access the shares i need.
