Replicate original VMs errors

Post by itops »

Hi everyone, we're running some replication jobs on a Backup Server at our DR site.
The question is, What happens if a VM starts to fail (for ie, OS error, memory crash, SQL Server failure, etc) and for any reason the administrators of the virtual infrastructure do not take knowledge and Veeam continues to replicate that VM. How can Veeam realize that the original VM is failing? And how can we automatically stop the replicas in case this error occurs?

Hi Juan,

thanks for the question.

Overall there is no detection beside if you have enabled guest processing for this.
If you have guest processing enabled and Veeam can not start consistency it will not get replicated (default setting),

But there is SureReplica were you can test afterwards if the replicated VM boot successful, network is accessible and it test applications uptime (predefined tests and scripts).
You will get an notification.

If you want to do this before the replication, there is the option to create a pre script that perform needed tests (you need to create this script) and stop if test fail before replica transport data.
