Hi !
I was wondering if it's normal that the initial replication of a 40 GB VM between two esxi 4.1 hosts with Veeam 6.0.0.181 took 1 hour and 18 minutes while the migration of a VM of 40 GB with vcenter between the 2 same hosts took only 6 minutes ? I retried the replication after the initial one and it took then 19 minutes (for 187 MB of data transferred), 3X more time than it takes to copy a full 40 GB with vcenter. The report in Veeam says: Load: Source 1% > Proxy 1% > Network 0% > Target 99%, but my tests with vcenter show that the hardware is performing as expected. There is a veeam proxy on the destination host and a veeam backup va on the source host.
Thanks,
Antonio

Re: Replication very slow compared to migration with Vcenter
Antonio, could you please verify that the destination proxy uses hotadd to populate replica disks on the target datastore? You can check this in the Realtime Statistics window available in the job shortcut menu (just select the particular VM to the left to view information about proxy and transport mode used).
