Hi all,
Our Veeam DB is housed on a discrete SQL server. Is it safe to restart the SQL server housing the Veeam DB while there are backup copy jobs in progress?
Having to apply MS patches is always a pain as we've always waited for all the backup copy jobs to fully complete, and they run for the better part of the day, giving us a very slim window where the Veeam server is idle. Would love if we could restart it during their runs without any ill-effect, if it didn't bork their job states or anything. I do mean backup copies, specifically - not regular backup jobs.
Appreciate any insight.

Re: Restarting SQL Server During Backup Copy Job?
Hi,
A lot of interaction happens between VBR and SQL during BCJ copt interval. If you reboot SQL server in middle of BCJ it might result in a corrupted restore point for BCJ. Since that scenario has not ever been tested, I'd recommend against doing so, because nobody knows what else can happen.
Thanks

Interesting. Yeah, knew there's likely a lot of state info being transferred even during merges and the like, was hoping against hope it wouldn't have a negative impact. Much appreciated!
