Restore all DC from backup
Hy!
I would like to test the DC restore process. I know that there are two methods: non-authoritative and authoritative restore. I tried the non-authoritative restore mode and works perfectly. I simulate that one of the DC failed from the 4 DCs.
What happen when lost all of 4 DCs? What is the correct order? Are there any step by step documentation whic is related to the authoritativa restore mode?
I read this article: https://www.veeam.com/kb2119
Are the registry keys modify related to the all 4 DCs? Or only, the one? I am confused a little bit.
Thanks.

The article mentions that you have to force one of the DCs to become authoritative for SYSVOL (the first one restored) so that they can start replicating.

But what is your suggestion? Should I have to recover firstly the DC which own the all FSMO role?

My suggestion is to follow the KB instructions. You can restore two DCs at once (to avoid wasting time waiting for them to contact replication partners), force one of them to become authoritative for SYSVOL and then restore other DCs.

Ok, but if I restore two DC at once, and select one to become for SYSVOL, do I have to anything with the second restored DC? Or it will replicate all data from the firstly restored DC?
After the 4 DCs restore should I remove the created registry key?

After the first one is properly restored, it should start replicating normally with the others.

If I get it right, it doesn't matter much, just keep it in mind if you need to seize the roles or temporarily bypass initial synchronization requirements using the mentioned registry value.
