Restore vCentre VM, without vCentre

Morning,

I'm looking at upgrading my vCentre server to 6.5, and naturally I'm going to backup the vCentre VM using Veeam B&R first (as well as a snapshot), and it got me thinking.

If the upgrade of vCentre fails and vCentre is then offline, how would I go about restoring the vCentre vm? Does B&R not need the vCentre server to be online to restore a VM?
Does B&R still function without the vCentre?

Apologies if this is a silly question with a simple answer.

Sure, you can add ESXi server in the backup infrastructure, thus initiate restore to ESXi directly. Thanks!
