Restore VM from 4.1 ESX host to a 5.0 ESX host

Post by Tomsyr »

I need to migrate VM's off of a 4.1 ESXi host to a new server running ESXi 5.0.
Am I able to do a restore to this new host without any issues of the ESX versions being different?
We're not currently using shared storage on the old host.
Thanks!

Yes, you can do that smoothly. Just a thought - if you're willing to just migrate VM, Quick Migration functionality that doesn't require shared storage might be an easier option. Thanks.

In case of Quick Migration, you will only need to add both servers to a backup console, select required VMs and quick migrate them. Thanks.
