Restore VMware VM to Azure issue

Post by collinp »

Anyone else having issues restoring an on-premises vmware vm to azure? Support doesn't seem to have an answer on this (#07394460). The vm gets created in Azure correctly but the console shows an error and then Veeam tries to back out of the process and delete the VM from Azure but isn't able to do so because it's running. The error that the console shows is "Restore job failed Error: Value cannot be null. Parameter name:source".

The error in the programdata\Veeam\Backup\RestoreToAzure_xxxxx.log shows:

Event initiated by veeambackup
Error code OperationNotAllowed
MessageDisk 'VMName-1234c738f52d_Disk-1' is created for Upload. Call BeginGetAccess to upload data and EndGetAccess before copying or attaching the disk.

Neither the Veeam or Azure logs show anything leading up to this event.

Hi Collin,

Thank you for sharing the case number, and sorry to hear you're experiencing this.

The error itself is not immediately familiar, so likely will need to continue with the log analysis with Veeam Support. I can see that the Support Engineer has requested to collect additional logs with extended logging to try to understand the nature of this behavior.

I'd ask you continue with Support, and if there are concerns on the handling of the case, please use the Talk to a Manager button from the my.veeam.com case Portal to reach Veeam Support Management and discuss the handling of the case. Support Management will review the case to ensure that proper resources are aligned.
