Single VeeamZIP backup not compressed?
I'm using Backup & Replication 9.00.902 to make a single VeeamZIP backup of a Linux VM on a vSphere 6 server. The VM is powered off. Its works fine but I was wondering why the resulting .vbk file was so big. The VM's disk size is about 160GB, the Used space with the OS is 78GB. The resulting .vbk file is 133GB. Why is VeeamZIP backup up empty space? Shouldn't the resulting backup (.vbk file) be a max of 78GB, or more like 50GB because that becomes compressed/ZIPed?

Hi Ken,
VeeamZIP backups are always compressed and deduped. Most likely the backup size is larger than you've expected due to "dirty" data blocks.
Thanks!

Yes, I think your right. My other backups are more like I expect.

Ok, wiping out these blocks might help to reduce the backup size.
