size limit in vmdk backup ?

Hello,

I'm trying to backup a vm with a 4 To virtual disk. I get a "direct san connection is not available" when the 4 TB vmdk starts to get backuped.
Is the file too big for Veeam ?

What vSphere version are you running and do you have any other VMs backed up via direct SAN mode from the same host/datastore?

I use vSphere 5.5.0 with direct SAN. I have a lot of VMs on that datastore where this particular VM is and I don't have any problem.
Even with that VM with 4 disks, it goes well for the first 3 ones (SAN) and when it comes to the 4 TB vmdk, it says "Direct SAN is not available, failover to network mode".

It is a regular VMDK disk or an RDM?

regular vmdk...I rebooted the VM this morning...nothing changed...I'll keep searching and keep you updated

If the corresponding isn't any different from the other three ones that get backed up in Direct SAN mode successfully, then, you'd better contact our support team and let them thoroughly analyze your environment. Thanks.

I'm not aware about any disk size limitations for direct san backup mode. If you see this issue again, then please let our support team look through the logs.
