Snapshot consolidation on Replica VMs
Hey guys,
just a short question... Is it ok to consolidate snapshots on a VM replica from the vSphere side?
Thank you,
Christian

Re: Snapshot consolidation on Replica VMs
If you consolidate snapshots on the vSphere side, you'll lose your restore point history for your replicas. You may need to do a few different rescans from both your side and the tenant's side to see the resulting replica retention points cleaned up. I'd avoid it if I were you.
What problem are you trying to solve by consolidating snapshots?

Re: Snapshot consolidation on Replica VMs
Maybe I was not precise enough. In VBR the state of all replicas is fine. On the vSphere side, the snapshot tab states that "Consolidation" is required.

Are your proxies VM's? If so I'd check that the replica disks aren't still attached to the proxy. We get it sometimes and just have to remove the disk from the proxy. Do not delete from disk though.

I would check what Mark is saying there for your proxies, it's likely the cause. That said, if you try to run another replica, it will fail if the disks are stuck attached to the proxy. Also make sure you have enough free space on your target datastore.
