What do you mean by linux-based "platforms"? Supported hypervisors are VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V. If you are referring to KVM, no it's not supported.
If instead you are thinking about Linux as a Guest OS, yes it's totally supported and ssh is used for guest indexing; and you can check the detailed supported configurations for linux guest indexing here: http://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/80/v ... ubkey.html
