Storage Snapshots 3par multiple volumes
Hi!,
we have a 3par storage with Virtual Copy. I can see them in Veeam backup & replication (Enterprise Plus) but if my Virtual Machine is configured with .vmdk in diferents VVols I cant use "Storage snapshots" because it only mount snapshot with Virtual Machine (Operating System).
Thanks!

Hi Francisco,
Currently such configuration is not supported with storage snapshots technology.
Thanks!

Re: Storage Snapshots 3par multiple VVols
it would be possible in the future to add the feature of browse in .vmdk file from storage snapshot without Operating System?

Can you please elaborate a bit more on the last statement? What do you mean without operating system?

Ok, I try to explicate, sorry for my poor english
If I browse 3par storage Virtual Copy from veeam plugin in Storage infraestructure, if Virtual Copy dont have a Virtual Machine so I cant see .vmdk files.

Re: Storage Snapshots 3par multiple VVols
Francisco,
just to understand, those are vvols snapshots or regular lun snapshots? As Vitaliy told you, it's not possible to browse vvol snapshots via storage integration at the moment.
If instead this example is a regular volume formatted with vmfs, if Veeam is saying there are 0 VMs means it's a non supported volume (as the vvol one) or there's some issue in the communication between 3Par and veeam (but sounds strange since you are browsing the snapshot structure).

Re: Storage Snapshots 3par multiple VVols
Yes, I understand.
All volumes are in vmfs exported to 3 esx in a cluster.
My virtual machine is in VOL1.
then, I add a second HardDrive (.vmdk) allocated in another volume "NLr6_USERS".
I can browse files in VOL1 with Storage infraestructure. But in "NLr6_USERS" veeam can't see nothing.
I wondered if it would be possible to add the possibility of browse in vmdk file without virtual machine in the snapshot.
umm....
As you mount an .iso file or .zip file in your PC.
I hope I explained correctly
Thank you for responding so quickly

Re: Storage Snapshots 3par multiple volumes
Ah ok got it now, the title vvols was confusing.
No, as Vitaliy has explained, our current solution does not supports VMs with disks in different volumes when using storage snapshots. About adding this feature in the future, I'll let product managers answer this.
To moderators, can we change the title from vvols to volumes? Otherwise future searches will be misleaded, thanks.
