Hi.
Latest V12 version with patches.
Virtual Lab is configured with adavanced network configuration.
When I run SureBackup job for the first time a Virtual Lab appliance works as expected.
I can ping Appliance's from the VeeamBackup server OK.
Appliance has a static IP set in the Virtual Lab configuration.
When we run the Virtual Lab is run the second time the Virtual Lab network appliance just doesn't seem to work.
I can not ping the IP from VeeamBackup server.
A 'funny' workaround:
- If I open virtual lab settings and just anything (for example description of the job), then the next time SureBackup will run fine.
But afterwards it will stop working after 1 sucessfully attempt.
10/24/2023 4:13:11 PM Error Starting virtual lab routing engine
10/24/2023 4:13:11 PM Error Timed out waiting for proxy appliance to respond. Possible causes:
10/24/2023 4:13:11 PM Error 1. Appliance is configured to run on different network than backup server
10/24/2023 4:13:11 PM Error 2. Appliance is configured to obtain IP address automatically, but DHCP server is not available
10/24/2023 4:13:11 PM Error 3. Appliance is out of date. Please open Virtual Lab settings and click through the wizard to update the appliance.
10/24/2023 4:13:17 PM Error: The operation has timed out.
- Appliance is NOT CONFIGURED to run on a different netowkr than bakcup server.
- Appliance is NOT CONFIGURED to obtain IP from DHCP
- Appliance is NOT OUT OF DATE, as there were no changes after first and second attempt.
Any ideas? Is this a bug?
Haven't opened a Veeam support ticket (yet), but this is the next thing I plan to do if the community did not have similiar scenario.
Thank you.

Re: Strange VirtualLab behaviour on SureBackup
Thanks for sharing here.
I remember that some network environments have extended ARP Cache refresh settings that leads to the situation that the next reboot of an LAB appliance do not get any network access. Might be here the case or not and the optimizations for it might be different in the v12 vlab appliance.
Anyway can you please create a support ticket, upload logs there and share the support ticket number here. Our support specialists should be able to find the root cause. I think they can give you the old appliance ISO for a test, so that you can check if this work the same way with the old one in this specific setup.
