Support for backing up Win2k3 VMs??

Post by tommls »

I know 9.5u4 can back up Win2k3 VMs.
What about v10??
v11 dropped Win2k3 support, sigh...
Thank you, Tom

Hi Tom.

As long as it is virtual machine's Guest OS, we won't care much - crash consistent image-level backup is always an option, no changes here.
Support is dropped for variety of component-dependent features, such as using Win2k3 as Backup Server, as Proxy server, as Repository server, as well as guest processing for app-aware backup, etc.

/Cheers!

When I installed v11 few weeks ago all the Win2k3 vms would not back up.
So I've been backing them up with our old v9.5u2 veeam server.

Does this reply mean I can indeed back up Win2k3 vms with v11??
But I must turn off app-aware something something?? -- what setting is this??

Thank you, Tom

Correct, with enabled Application-aware Image processing checkbox, jobs will fail on 2k3 machines.
On Guest Processing step you can disable that option granularly for 2k3 machines only(Applications>select machine>Edit>Disable processing) or for the entire job(untick App-Aware Processing completely).
/Cheers!
