Supported devices: dedup appliance integration
Hi there.
I just became aware that, in order to use Quantum DXi dedup appliances with the Veeam data mover, you need to be on VBR Enterprise as a minimum.
Is there a maintained list somewhere of the supported dedup appliances and the VBR edition needed to support them?
Many thanks.

Re: Supported devices: dedup appliance integration
Thanks for the quick reply Egor.
I think we can agree that the information is somewhat out of date though. The editions comparison page doesn't mention Quantum DXi as an appliance that requires Enterprise edition for integration. If you mouse hover over the link it just mentions DD Boost, HPE StoreOne Catalyst and Exagrid Accelerated Data Mover. And the online documentation doesn't say anything about required editions.
The reason I bring this up is that a customer who has installed the Quantum DXi to be used with VBR Standard has experienced failed backup jobs and an error message that says "Backup to Quantum DXi via on-storage data mover requires Enterprise edition of Veeam Backup and Replication".
Regards,
Neil.

Hi Neil, we will take care of the missing item in the editions comparison. Thanks for pointing this out. Just a small clarification: you can use Quantum as a CIFS target with any license edition, what Ent/Ent+ allows is integrated data mover running on the appliance itself.

Re: Supported devices: dedup appliance integration
Veeam supports any storage system that can handle random IO and keep the data within the same storage. This is maybe different from other vendor approaches that use hardware compatbility lists.
We intergrated 4 storages into our UI to help customers with the correct setup of those devices. You need Enterprise Edition to profit from those simple setups.
All of those storages can be used as well with Community or Standard Edition when you use them with Shares, however the integrations into the storages can have as well performance benefits.
