SureBackup error: Insufficient disk space on datastore

Post by rmandrews7 »

Hello All,

I am trying to spin up a sure backup job and I am receiving the following error:

Code: Select all

Error: Insufficient disk space on datastore '
I have plenty of disk to work with, has anyone run into this error before? Any ideas?

Thanks!

What datastore are you looking at when checking for available disk space?

You need to be looking at VMFS datastore that you have selected for redo logs (Virtual Lab settings).

What is the recommended amount of space we need for the redo logs? We currently have 27GB free on the datastore and are trying to spin up about 5 vm's.

Taking into account the recommendation for Instant Recovery, which is at least 10GB for each recovered VM, I would say that it is roughly something like 10*(number of VMs in the Application Group + 1). So probably, 27GB is not enough to hold 5 VMs simultaneously.

One of the customers reported previously that it "needs to be fairly large at least 100GB in order to run multiple VMs in SureBackup".
