I have a surebackup job with 6 Rhel 6 server. I get mac conflict in VMware when I run the job..
In veeam I get:
Error Powering on
Waiting for OS to boot for up to 1800 seconds (stable IP algorithm)...
Note: Will proceed to the next step at 31-07-2018 15:05:20 or earlier
Error Results: Cannot detect VM starting because of timeout
Error: Results: OS did not boot in the allotted time
Powering off
If I changes mac adress and changes /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0 and cat /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
(SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="vmxnet3", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0", BUS=="pci", ID=="0000:0b:00.0")
Ping and heartbeat is succes.
But I need to run the job whitout some manuel work.

Re: Surebackup failed Rhel 6 mac conflict
Hi Peter,
thanks for this request.
The MAC address conflict comes from the fact that your VM is configured with a static MAC address. You configure the VM for Linux in that way to preserve the IP address at restore.
So whenever you restore the VM or use it in SureBackup it uses the same MAC.
To have 2 VMs with same MAC address on different (virtual) Network Switches is no issue. They do not see each other. The vCenter message can be ignored and it is not why SureBackup fails.
The SureBackup OS test do not use any king of network test at this stage. Can you please check that you have installed VMware Tools within the OS of the VM?
Sometimes open source VM tools are used, if this is the case please let me know, there is a Registry entry in Veeam to accept them instead of VMware Tools.

Re: Surebackup failed Rhel 6 mac conflict
OK, then I have no idea. Please open a support case and upload logs there. The support team can look why the VMware Tools are not detected at the SureBackup VM boot.
Maybe you can start surebackup again and see if vCenter itself detect the VMware Tools as valid before our Job stops the VM again.
