SureReplica - CDP

Post by Matt.Sharpe »

Is Sure Replica even an option for CDP Policy jobs?

I can’t add the VMs / Replicas to Sure Backup or Application Groups....

RTM testing...

No, it's not available in v1.

So is SureBackup on the road map for CDP? v11a or v12 maybe?

Anton, can you please shed some light on that? I mean if you can't test the vm, then it's quite a gamble if it works when the emergency comes. What do you suggest, is there a way to run it e.g. with disabled CDP or something like that? Thanks!

This requirement is tracked. We need to make some changes to the engine to enable non-disruptive testing and they are not simple, so at this time we focus on more pressing matters based on the actual feedback we're getting from the field. As you can imagine, with V1 there's always a lot of things to improve that we overlooked.

Yeah, I totally understand. I'd love to get a workaround, even if it's a manual one... Can you stop CDP, start the VM, shutdown and continue CDP? Or would it be essential to revert the snapshot before you continue CDP?

Can it be done without having to worry about it or is it kind of a dangerous task (starting vm changes disk-content which could get injected on the next merge)?

Definitely not. The only path that will not break CDP is to perform Failover, test the VM, and then perform Undo Failover. This will pause CDP automatically for the duration of this entire workflow.
