Suspicious "Total size:"

Post by UhodiZlodey »

Hello, i added a new VM to my vSphere and now trying to make a backup, but when i started to configure new Backup job i saw a very suspicious "Total size: 2,59 Gb", its cant be true, too small value.

In vSphere there is another value:

And finally "df -h" directly in the VM:

I think there is mistake, how it can be? What should i do to get normal backup value?
In "Exclusion" > "Disks" > "Disks to process : all disks"

Hello Zlodey,

Backup job wizard displays the size received from VMware while during the job run actual disk size is displayed. Glad you nailed it!

The mismatch is because of VM swap file. By default, VMware creates a per-VM swap file equal to assigned memory size. VMware considers this storage usage (well... it is) but Veeam ignores it because it is not backed up.
