Hi,
We have scheduled an incremental backup from monday to thursday and a synthetic full friday.
Can you confirm that the synthetic full on friday will contain the state of the VM on friday and not just the concatenation of the regular backup (from monday to thursday) ?
I've read this page https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100
At the end of the page it says that if we have the regular and the synthetic the same day, only synthetic will be created with the latest state of the VM but it is not specified if the latest state is included when the regular backup is not planned the same day of the synthetic full.
Thank you

Re: Synthetic full when no regular backup is scheduled
Hi William.
Synthetic Full backup made on Friday will contain state of machines on Friday. First we take quick Friday Incremental Backup and then synthesize new Full Backup from the backup chain pieces created Monday to Friday.
/Thanks!

Re: Synthetic full when no regular backup is scheduled
Hi Egor,
Thank you for your quick reply.
So, there is no difference (in data saved) between a job configured with regular and full synthetic on same day vs just full synthetic on this day ?
Thank you

Re: Synthetic full when no regular backup is scheduled
Correct. If backup job is set to "once a day" schedule, on Day X you will get solo Synthetic Full backup no matter what.
If you have backup job schedule to "every hour", then first hour of Day X(first job run after 0:00am) you will get Synthetic Full, and then incremental backups every hour followed.
/Cheers!
