I want one Catalyst store that has two gateways. The physical gateway would use Fiber Channel to talk to the store. The virtual (VM) gateway would use IP to talk to the same store. Valid config?
My reasoning is thus: I want a primary proxy/gateway that's physical. In the event of a hardware failure, I want a secondary proxy/gateway that's virtual.
Limitations? Suggestions?

I don't believe you can specify more than one gateway server per Catalyst store in Veeam?

For FibreChannel you need to have a dedicated server (zoning and such stuff as well).
But anyway for performance reasons it is suggested to use an IP connection instead of FC. There you can use the Gateway Server in automatic mode which selects the Repository based on availability.
I suggest to enable then Proxy affinity to control which servers can be used.

Good point. I thought it over, and I agree the best route to StoreOnce is IP since 10 Gb infrastructure is available at this site. That will give the combined proxy/gateway separate points of ingress and egress with snapshot data coming in from 3PAR via FC and going out to StoreOnce via IP.
