Hi VEEAM-Guys,
I am quite excited about the new UDT technology which has just arrived with the release of vSphere 8 (https://core.vmware.com/resource/vspher ... t#section2).
Now the one million dollar question would be.....for customers who don´t use Backup from SAN and still pulling their backups via NFC directly from ESXi - Will VEEAM B+R use UDT for transport?
Thanks
Joerg

Re: UDT for Backup Transport with vSphere 8?
No, as VMware VDDK does not implement UDT transport mode.

Thanks for the very fast answer Anton, as always
I really hope, VMware will implement this as UDT could be a real game changer imho (vMotion is using it all along). And comparing with NFC it is a gargantuan difference.

Re: UDT for Backup Transport with vSphere 8?
Hello,
By the way, I guess it might affect our Quick Migration, as we use native VMware migration mechanisms whenever possible, and they in its turn can leverage UDT.
Thanks!

Re: UDT for Backup Transport with vSphere 8?
Hello Petr,
yeah, if VEEAM Quick Migration makes use of native vsphere migrate mechanism and UDT is enabled on vmkernel level on both hosts, I am quite sure that this could use UDT for transport.
Thanks
Joerg
