Upgrade VBR 12.1.2.171 to 12.2.0.334 on Windows 10

Post by JMeixner »

Hello,
I am trying to update a VBR server from v12.1.2.171 to v12.2.0.334. This server is running on a Windows 10 22H2 VM - all components are on this VM (Proxy and Repo).
The update itself is running fine. But at the start of the Veeam console the update of one component is failing.

Error message:

Code: Select all

Failed to upgrade host components. Error: 'Minimum supported OS version for Veeam VSS Hardware Provider is Microsoft Server 2012 (64-bit only).'
The system requirements tell me that Windows 10 22H2 is a supported OS for the Veeam server.
Is there a wrong requirement set in the VSS Hardware provider?

Hi Jochen,

Can you check this KB article please? https://www.veeam.com/kb4661

Should have the solution you need. The VSS Hardware Provider was not supposed to be installed on Windows 10/11, only Windows Servers, so a little manual clean-up is required. The powershell one-liner in the KB should stop the Components Upgrade wizard from bothering you when starting the console.
