Hello,
I am backing up an Oracle database on Windows. I have archive log mode enabled and Veeam is backing up the database and logs successfully. I am having an issue with replication (using Exagrid) where the hourly log backups have the backup file locked even though backups are not running.
Veeam backs up the database at 4am. Then hourly for the next 24 hours an archive backup is run against the Oracle logs. The log backup runs quickly in a minute or two and then the backup sits idle for over 55 minutes (but still running and locking the backup file(s)). Exagrid isn't replicating because the file is 'in use' until the 24 hour period is over.
Can I or should I run a script to close the backup file in-between the hourly backups? If so, any suggestions?
Thoughts?
Any other ideas to get my Exagrid to replicate?
I have been working with Veeam and Exagrid support for 2-3 months and they are not sure what to do.
Thank you
Corey

Re: Use a Script to close Oracle Log Backup File between backups
I think there is no real solution for this situation.
Maybe you can check the following to hold the job and allow exagrid to replicate then activate again?
