Use Microsoft One Drive as cloud backup repository

Post by M4Biz »

Hi.
I'm newbie to Veeam B&R.
I have a question.
Is there any way to use Microsoft One Drive as a cloud backup repository to use as target drive in a Backup Copy Job?
Thanks in advance.

Hi M4Biz,

I would strongly advise against it in any fashion :)

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/off ... 39e07630fa

The file size limit alone probably makes it unsuitable for any even moderately sized servers, and the performance for anything but Full backups surely cannot be good.

If you have credits on MSDN/Azure, I'd recommend an Azure Blob container instead and look into configuring offloads to it - the initial push will be expensive due to the API calls, but after that it should likely be okay.

But I think you'll spend more time trying to get One Drive working in a stable way than you will save, and the mental sanity costs will surely outweigh any savings.

Hi,

as written by soncscy, using OneDrive as a backup target is not recommended because of sizes and performance.

As always, everything depends on what you want to achieve here. So feel free to add some details and reach out to the forum again.

Thanks
