Hi jmc
VMware vSphere 8.0 U1 is a breaking update for Veeam.
You will require our newest Patch for Veeam Backup & Replication v12 (P20230412).
For official support, you should wait until we have finished our full regression testing.

Best,P20230412 adds VMware vSphere 8.0 U1 readiness based on the pre-release build. The official support will require full regression testing of the GA build when it becomes available. This article will be updated with a support statement afterward.

Re: v12 - vCenter v8.0 Update-1 - OK?
We noticed couple of our backup jobs started to fail with "Cannot connect to admin share..." errors after the ESXi 8.0U1 patch.
Is there a patch for Veeam 11 as well?
Thanks.

Hi Stephen
No, as far as I know it is not planned to bring support for v11a. V11a never got full vSphere 8.0 support. Full support for vSphere 8.0 came with v12.
And for vSphere 8.0 U1, v12 P20230412 (12.0.0.1420 P20230412) is mandatory.

Re: v12 - vCenter v8.0 Update-1 - OK?
All, we have now finished the regression testing and are ready to officially support VMware vSphere 8.0 U1 with v12 P20230412.
We will not be validating v11a with VMware vSphere 8.0 U1 because as it was already mentioned above, v11a never fully supported vSphere 8.0 anyway (only at the compatibility level). Also, please be aware that U1 for vSphere 8.0 is not a very typical update as VMware made a number of changes for security hardening purposes and P20230412 allows V12 to no longer rely on one deprecated API endpoint.

Hey Everyone,
VMware has officially announced the General Availability (GA) of vSphere 8.0 Update 1.
But the exciting part is: Veeam v12 has achieved day 0 support compatibility, surpassing our standard 90-day target. (Check out the post above for more details.)
